Pontoon & Dockside Accessories

Nuova Metalmeccanica supplies the full range of accessories and spare parts needed to equip a pontoon for safe, comfortable everyday use. All our accessories are fully compatible with existing installations and can be adapted to meet specific client requirements.

Shore Gangways

We fabricate a range of pontoon access gangways, designed to suit any installation configuration. Load-bearing structures are built from hot-dip galvanised steel beams to UNI EN ISO 1461, or Anticorodal 6060 T5/T6 aluminium, welded together to form solid frames with electrically isolated aluminium stringers, onto which hardwood or WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) decking is fixed. Reinforcing beams are added where span lengths require. Gangways connect pontoons to the shore, or to one another, accommodating changes in level between the two.

For shore-side anchoring we offer a range of connection solutions: toggle joints, universal (cardan) joints, gravity connections and wheeled connections, as well as removable gangways and access portals with lifting winches.

We also fabricate self-supporting gangways with integral floating elements that avoid transferring load onto the pontoon. Gangways can be fitted with polyethylene or nylon wheels, anti-chafe plates, and sheet metal or timber cover flaps, and are completed with custom handrail and guardrail systems.

Access Portals

We fabricate lifting portals, correctly sized for gangways of all types. Custom configurations and bespoke designs are available, including integrated access control systems.

Fingers, Catways

Fingers and catways are the ideal complement to any mooring system, facilitating safe berthing and making boarding and disembarkation of passengers and cargo straightforward.

The finger structure consists of hot-dip galvanised steel beams to UNI EN ISO 1461, or Anticorodal 6060 T5/T6 aluminium, onto which hardwood or WPC decking and mooring cleats are fixed.

Floating elements can be fabricated in concrete or HDPE.

Fingers are particularly well suited to medium and large craft, simplifying approach, mooring, boarding and disembarkation. They are available in bespoke sizes to suit any design requirement.

Fenders

We fabricate perimeter protection fenders in premium hardwood, WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) or EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate).

Connecting Joints

We supply pontoon connection systems including toggle joints, universal (cardan) joints and buffer pads — each selected and sized to suit the specific meteo-marine conditions of the port or marina.

Where required, we can customise connection fittings to match your existing pontoon system.

Mooring Cleats

We supply mooring cleats in hot-dip galvanised steel to UNI EN ISO 1461, cast iron, or AISI 304/316 stainless steel, for installation on both pontoons and quaysides.

Our technical team will identify the most suitable solution for your requirements, with the option to customise the design.

Floats

We supply heavy-duty floats with a minimum wall thickness of 30 mm, fabricated in pozzolanic concrete (S4–S5 mix at 500 kg/m³ cement content), reinforced along the lower perimeter with 16 mm deformed rebar and fibre-reinforced, with shaped expanded polystyrene infill at 15 kg/m³ density. Alternatively, we supply rotational moulded polyethylene (PE) floating tanks with polystyrene core at 15 kg/m³ density.

Utility Pedestals

We offer a range of 2-way and 4-way utility pedestals supplying electricity and fresh water. Units are fitted with IP67 interlocked sockets rated at 220–380V and 16–32A,protected by MCBs and 30mA RCDs. Each pedestal includes an overhead service light and and ½” water valves with tap..

We also supply fire extinguisher housings — comprising extinguisher bracket, quick-release door, electrical/alarm connection box, LED lighting and 3×4 terminal block for the lighting circuit — as well as full fire-fighting pedestals equipped with a stainless steel submersible pump and a certified triple-effect fire hose nozzle.

Safety Ladders

Our safety ladders, in hot-dip galvanised steel to EN ISO 1461 or stainless steel, are designed to minimise deck footprint while providing safe re-boarding. They feature hardwood treads and a convenient tubular galvanised steel handrail.

Navigation and Safety Lighting

Our pontoons can be equipped with low-voltage, low-consumption, high-intensity LED safety lights for night-time deck-level marking. Units can be mains-powered or connected to alternative energy sources, and are managed automatically by a dusk-to-dawn controller.

For navigation marking, we supply programmable night signal lights with a range from one nautical mile upwards, with customisable flash patterns, also available for mains or alternative power. Units can be installed on pontoon heads, buoys and channel markers.

Mooring Rings

We supply mooring rings in hot-dip galvanised steel to UNI EN ISO 1461, or AISI 304/316 stainless steel, for installation on both pontoons and quaysides.

Our technical team will identify the most suitable solution for your requirements, with the option to customise the design.

Chains

We supply black and galvanised chain in any size for anchoring floating pontoons to mooring anchors.

Mooring Anchors (Deadweights)

We supply deadweight mooring anchors in pozzolanic concrete (S4–S5 mix at 500 kg/m³ cement content), reinforced along the lower perimeter with 16 mm deformed rebar and fibre-reinforced, sized and customised to meet your specific mooring requirements.

Our technical team is fully available to assist with any mooring problem.

Fixed Pontoons

Robust and highly stable, our fixed pontoons are supported on piles driven into the seabed or, where site conditions require, on alternative supports such as beams and base structures.

The core structure of each fixed pontoon module consists of hot-dip galvanised steel beams to UNI EN ISO 1461, dimensioned and welded together to form a solid load-bearing frame, onto which hardwood or WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) decking is fixed. Fixed pontoons can be fitted with electrical and water supply systems and all associated user service points and fittings.
